Fresh fallen snow... crowds of skiers

What a difference two months makes... as some of you will remember how green it was up there over Labor Day. We get more snow at the beginning of the season than Anchorage. My attempt was to show how crowded the parking lot was at the Independence Mine State Park. There were teams of skiers from the local universities there yesterday as it was the first opportunity for real skiing. We just drove up to see what the hoopla was about and did not participate in the madness! If we do get excited we will sign up with Challenge Alaska who offer opportunities for the disabled. They are based out of Alyeska Ski Area in Girdwood. It would be quite the outing. Click on the post title to be linked over to their website if you're curious.
