Spring Flower Planting - May 19

Usually we plant on Memorial Day weekend, because on/around May 31 is the last day of possible freeze. Anyway, we've had such nice long sunny days this spring that we felt we could 'jump the gun' this year. We went down to our local nursery, Wilderness Nursery and bought a bunch of plants, annual and perennial, in fact we went a little overboard as we do have 3 snapdragons and a tray of pansies left. We bought pansies, petunias, snapdragons, lobelia, 2 forget-me-nots, 1 dahlia, 1 peony, 2 tiger lilys, 2 iris and 1 himalayan blue poppy. We planted the deck baskets, several landscaped garden beds. It was quite the job, but satisfying. Scratched an itch... and the plants are all doing well. I even have tulips that we planted last fall coming up and about to bloom. (update 9/13/08: Wilderness Nursery shut down, auctioned off all their equipment, we were very sad to see them go as I considered them the best, but times are tough with and it was hard for them to make a living at it anymore.)
