Sam Beam Concert

One of our favorite singer songwriters came to Anchorage, Sam Beam. He is better known for his band Iron and Wine. But this time he came by himself with just his guitar. We enjoyed the concert very much; he was fantastic. Because of his style, the organizers wanted to create a more intimate atmosphere and held the concert at UAA's Wendy Williamson Auditorium. The acoustics were pure and true. Sam kept us entertained with his witty remarks and observations on Alaska as it was his first time to the state. A young man, Eric D Johnson opened for Sam; he was alone with just his guitar as well. He talked about being from the band Fruit Bats, but there was something about his voice that sounded so familiar. After he left the stage, we realized he is with the popular band The Shins. Of course! Eric did come back on stage and play a couple songs and sing with Sam.
