Sea Otter resting
Seward Boats
Harbor Seals
Aialik Glacier
Stellar Sea Lions have just been added to the Endangered Species List. Their populations have dived 80% since the 70's. The Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward has live webstreaming video from Chiswell Island out in the Gulf of Alaska. We drew up to one of the little islands to see the multitudes of birds, gulls, puffins, murres, etc... but did not approach the island with the Stellar Sea Lion rookery, because they are not to be disturbed. Here's the link to the webcam Chiswell Live Video Monitoring. Sadly, the Harbor Seals also pictured above are in even more trouble than the sea lions and ongoing research is being conducted, here's a site that has great pictures of the little guys - Ocean Alaska Science and Learning Center. When I got the picture shown above the boat captain whispered and we were very quiet (as quiet as a large tourist boat can be; but we did not shout or carry on) apparently they are skittish. By the way, you can click on any of the pictures to blow them up for a better view.
