Close to the Turntable - Week of 2/28/09

For this installment of the Close to the Turntable post Greg wanted to share some new finds and some old favorites.
  • Ry Cooder & V.M. Bhatt -- A Meeting by the River (SACD); "masterful acoustic music; simple yet sublimely exotic" Greg says. (it's recorded in Christ the King Chapel, St. Anthony's Seminary)
  • Neil Young -- Massey Hall 1971 (200 g vinyl); "Quintessential NY at his best. Just Neil with his guitar on stage live."
  • Calexico/Iron & Wine -- In the Reins (vinyl); "Iron & Wine is one of my best kept secrets, excellent folk rock - recommend to anyone who enjoys fine singer song writers."
  • Ben Harper -- Welcome to the Cruel World (180 g vinyl) Ben just released his catalogue on vinyl in limited release. "What can I say... it's Ben".
  • Death Cab for Cutie -- Transatlanticism (SACD)
